I’ve finally had the privilege of photographing a Hindu wedding ceremony.
A few things I leaned:
My Hindi could never be adequate. I compensate by photographing *everything* during the ceremonies and rely on my couples to tell me both before and after the what was most important to document.
Double the amount of photo storage used for other wedding days. There are multiple ceremonies throughout each day and they are longer. There is more dancing. There is even more cake-sharing. Name it, and there’s more of it to be photographed.
Getting in the middle of the action is necessary and not a distraction. The entire wedding party is celebrating together and if you’re not in the middle, you’ll never get a clear photo of the couple.
